Contardi Lighting and designer Adam Tihany joined forces to create a sustainable lighting solution that embodies both eco-consciousness and elegant design. The result of their collaboration is the AIR suspension lamp, which combines functionality and beauty while adhering to environmentally friendly principles. AIR boasts a dual lampshade design that offers a warm and playful interplay of light and shadow through its intricately engraved laser cuts. Throughout the production process, the team took great care to minimize the lamp’s impact on the environment. The lamp is made of Green Cast, an acrylic material that is 100 per cent recyclable and made from industrial waste and end-of-life products. Green Cast retains its mechanical, thermal and aesthetic properties no matter how many times it is recycled. Additionally, Contardi applies the cream-coloured finish during production, eliminating the need for a separate lacquering phase and further reducing the lamp’s ecological footprint.
AIR’s sculptural form creates a sense of weightlessness as if the lamp is both rising and descending at the same time, producing a captivating visual illusion. The upper and lower LED lights produce a warm and cozy glow, adding a peaceful ambiance to any room.
