Space Copenhagen and Mater Introduce Circular Seating Collection | Eternity

FDT Bureau

Space Copenhagen, in collaboration with furniture brand Mater, has expanded its Eternity seating collection by introducing a new high stool crafted from coffee shells and e-waste. The high stool complements Mater’s existing collection of shell chairs made from their innovative circular waste material called Matek. Know more about it on FURNITURE DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY (FDT).

The Eternity chair features a shell made from Matek, a groundbreaking technology that enables the recycling of fiber-based waste materials and recycled plastic waste. Matek is a composite material created by combining plastic- and fibre-based waste, allowing for multiple reprocessing cycles. At the end of its life, Mater collects the furniture through their takeback programme.

The Eternity chair offers a perfect balance of industrial and sculptural elements while ensuring exceptional comfort. Designed for disassembly, each component can be recycled into new production cycles, promoting sustainability. With its durability, the Eternity chair is suitable for both private and public use. The Eternity high stool can be optionally upholstered with Kvadrat’s Re-wool fabric, containing 45 per cent recycled wool, adding to its sustainable design.
