Massive Fire Broke Out in Bengaluru’s Oldest Furniture Hub, Huge Loss Estimated

A massive fire broke out at Bamboo Bazar in Shivajinagar, one of the oldest and largest furniture hub of the Bangalore, in the early hours of Thursday. At least 15 shops gutted in this incident. However, no casualties have been reported so far. Furniture kept in some shops of the market was burnt in this incident. The cause of the fire is being ascertained by the officials.

The fire broke out around 3.25 am (on Thursday). Even as 17 fire tenders were pressed into action to ensure to control the fire so that the flames do not spread other nearby areas. Fire started in the Bamboo Bazaar and spread to other shops of Shivaji Nagar furniture market located in area . Around 15 shops are affected and furniture kept in shops was burnt. Some of shops are as old as 50 years. As per media reports, this incident of fire resulted in an estimated loss of worth Rs 15 crore. 

The shops sold different range of Furniture including wooden, Burma Teak, plywood and other antique furniture was also gutted.  Apart from furniture, a godown which stocked air-conditioner, washing machines and refrigerators was also gutted, said in media reports.

Meanwhile, Bamboo Bazar in Shivajinagar is considered as one of the oldest and largest furniture hub of Bangalore. There are more than 150 of shops including big and small having the range of all kind of furniture. Maximum voulmes ofwWood made furniture is being sold in this market. Apart from fruniture, there are shops for plywood, timbers and other house holds items as well.
