COVID-19: World’s Largest Annual Trade Show and Conference Cancelled

Due to COVID-19 breakouts, world’s largest trade show and conference- LightFair-2020, previously announced as postponed has been cancelled by the organizers. The revised notification has been issued to exhibitors, participants and attendees. As per revised notification, next LightFair will be held in May 2021 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York during NYCxDESIGN – New York Design Week. LightFair returns to the Las Vegas Convention Center in June 2022.

According to Media reports, ss of Thursday night, there have been at least 92,381 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in state including more than 51,809 in New York City. Nationwide, more than 226,000 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed across all 50 states and three U.S. territories.

The Attendees of LightFare will have access to the LightFair and co-located International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) trade show floors plus additional events taking place across the five boroughs in May 2021 in New York.

LightFair is the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference, managed and produced by the International Market Centers (IMC), and also co-owned by the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES). The three parent organizations are equally invested in the show's growth and success and actively collaborate to provide the most sought-after platform for our industry to come together and advance.

The LightFair trade show and conference was scheduled for May 3-7, previously announced as postponed, now cancelled. Since its inception 31 years ago, LightFair has represented a true collaboration and symbiotic partnership between IALD, IES and its managing partners. The event brings together 500+ exhibitors and 24,000+ guests each year. Each year, the event delivers expanded learning and networking opportunities, providing increased value to exhibitors and attendees.

LightFair 2021 will showcase new innovations in lighting design with more than 500 top manufacturers and more 200 hours of accredited educational courses in May 2021. The trade show and conference join New York City’s annual celebration of design, NYCxDESIGN, as part of the reimagining of the attendee experience, which sees new programming and amenities plus a new trade show layout and streamlined conference. Attendees will have access to both the LightFair and co-located International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) trade show floors plus additional events taking place across the five boroughs. Site selection for LightFair 2021 will begin in May 2020 and attendee registration will open in early 2021, said in fresh notification. 

According to media reports, as of Thursday night, there have been at least 92,381 confirmed cases of the coronavirus including more than 51,809 in New York City. At least 2,468 people with COVID-19 have died in the state. Nationwide, more than 226,000 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed across all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and three U.S. territories. At least 5,316 people have died from the virus in the country, where 28 states have confirmed more than 1,000 cases.
